HUGGY’S PIKE

With the rivers flooded and the lakes beginning to freeze up it is the ideal time for a spot of pike fishing and this is exactly what Huggy did last weekend with a session on an RMC Angling gravel pit.

Huggy with his 26.8 pike
A mackerel section presented close in on size 8 trebles to 12lb Big Game Line was the bait and the result was this superbly marked and nicely proportioned pike that pulled the scales around to 26lb 8oz – setting a new personal best for the species by over 12lb!

Despite the generally poor quality of pike fishing to be found on so many non-trout waters these days there have been a reassuringly good number of fish topping the 20lb mark taken from RMC Angling fisheries this season, topped by a cracking fish of 31lb 7oz.
