September is here and with it the traditional shift in emphasis away from the summer species to the autumn ones and here at FM we are celebrating the start of a new season with the start of a new series of competitions.
Regular FM forum users will have noticed a new category in the forums – Competitions – and this is now the stopping off point for ALL FM competitions, including the long-running Caption of the Month Competition, previously hosted on our members only forum.
The All New Caption Competition
The new Caption Competition will, for September at least, become a Caption of the Week competition with a tremendous set of exciting new prizes put up by our friends at Laguna. And there’s more…
In addition to a winner of the Caption of the Week competition Laguna have also put up a runner up prize so two FM readers get to share in the goodies; and there is a different prize package every week.
The winner of the first weekly prize will receive:
- 2 x 50ml bottles of Pineapple SAC juice (bait activator)
- 2 x 50ml bottles of Strawberry SAC juice (bait activator)
- 2 x 50ml bottles of Blackcurrant & Grape SAC juice (bait activator)

The runner-up will receive:

Thread of the Month
In addition to the Caption Competition we are also launching a Thread of the Month competition in association with Fulling Mill.
There is absolutely no need at all to actually enter this one as everyone who starts a thread on the FishingMagic Forum will automatically be considered.
The FM forums have long been considered some of the very best on the Web, with a wealth of valuable information, humour, gossip and scandal contained within them and to help to stimulate continued participation and inspired posting Fulling Mill are putting up a selection of their terrific new Scorpion Zigs, the hand-tied carp bugs that have revolutionised up in the water zig fishing for carp.
Patterns, in both barbed and barbless, include beetles, ants, snails, bloodworm, pellets and tadpoles, all of them with a proven track record of being outstanding carp catchers.
The Big One – KRS Dam

Courtesy of World Mahseer Champion Joe Assassa of Mahseer Sports and Adventures, we are running a competition to travel out to, and fish, KRS Dam for mahseer which have been caught to over 130lb and which could, potentially, reach double that! You choose the exact dates you wish to go, and time your dates correctly and you could even end up fishing with FM editor Welchy – or should that be time your dates wrongly…
The exclusive FM prize package includes all flights to and from Heathrow to Bangalore, onward travel from Bangalore to the venue, accommodation, food, tackle and guiding as a guest of Joe himself. All the winner will need to arrange is travel to and from Heathrow Airport and their own Indian Visa.
