SHIMANO HYPERLOOP FEEDER RODS
Price: £ 49.99 TO 59.99

The rods are made from XT30 carbon with the Hyperloop wrap and each comes with a spare quivertip suited to its action. The action is described as ‘mellow’.

The rods are ringed with optimum spacing for the best blank action with low bell Shimano Hardlite quiver rings which are suitable for both mono and braid. The mixed Duplon and cork handle is fitted with a screwed winch fitting.

There are three models in the range which are the ‘Medium Feeder’ (12ft, £ 49.99), the ‘Heavy Feeder’ (12ft, £ 54.99), and the ‘X-Heavy Feeder’ (13ft, £ 59.99). And the respective casting weights are 90, 110 and 150g.

The ‘Medium’ is happiest on stillwaters and slower rivers. It can cast bombs and feeders of 1-2oz and comes with a 1oz and 2oz quivertip. Ideal for small carp, tench, skimmers and bream.

The ‘Heavy’ is the ‘all-rounder’ of the three, capable of casting 1-3oz and best on commercials, mixed fisheries and rivers where you don’t know what you’re going to latch into next. Good for both bomb and feeder work, including The Method. Comes with a 2oz glass and a 3oz carbon quivertip.

The ‘X-Heavy’ is the big one. It will cast weights in excess of 4oz. It will cast a big, loaded method feeder and will handle practically any fish you’re likely to hook, including double figure carp and barbel. Supplied with carbon 3oz and 4oz quivertips.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

Brilliant rods for the price. You just can’t say anything else. Easy to be picky, but every time you come back to how much they cost. If you didn’t already know the price and someone stuck one in your hands and said, “guess how much”, you’d probably say about twice as much as the actual figure.

If you’re on a budget or just need a cheap feeder rod for a backup then you need look no further than the Shimano Hyperloop range.
