TAFF is designed to encourage regular anglers to take their family members and friends fishing over the spring Bank Holiday period to let them try the sport for themselves.

A free one-day rod licence (worth £3.75) from the Environment Agency is available to print here below on FishingMagic and is also attached to this news story as a PDF download; it will also be printed in newspapers and magazines so that anglers can take a mate or a family member on a fishing session between Saturday, 25 May and midnight Sunday 02 June 2013.

Naidre Werner, Angling Trades Association Chair said:

“With the weather finally improving and the Easter TAFF promotion being successful, the Environment Agency has kindly offered another free rod licence promotion for the spring Bank Holiday.  It’s a brilliant opportunity for existing anglers to take people out and introduce them to this great sport. I would encourage everyone to take part and share the joys of angling with others.”

In additional to a free rod licence, your friend can also fish for free at a number of Angling Trust fishery and club member venues.  These fisheries have pledged to support the Take a Friend Fishing campaign by offering free day ticket or member passes so that your friend can fish for nothing on their waters (some exclusions may apply). Visit www.takeafriendfishing.co.uk for a list of fisheries taking part in the initiative.

If you can’t find your favourite fishery listed, speak to the owner and ask if you can introduce a friend or family member to your fishery for a discounted rate. You may just be pleasantly surprised at their response.

When you’ve decided on your selected venue, all you need to do is cut out or print the rod licence voucher, fill in your details, validate it online at www.takeafriendfishing.co.uk, read the Terms and Conditions, grab your tackle and your voucher and go fishing!

The free rod licence voucher cannot be used to fish for coarse fish on any river, stream or drain in England and Wales between 15 March and 15 June inclusive and the closed season may apply also to some canals and stillwaters in your area – please check before going fishing.

Don’t forget to tell the Take a Friend Fishing team how you get on by emailing pictures (including venue name, catch details, your info and daytime telephone number) to info@takeafriendfishing.co.uk
