The Chub ‘X’ Chair is one of the lightest around at a little over 4lb, so in that respect it makes a good chair for roving. It’s strong too, the frame being made from aluminium.

All four legs are independently adjustable with a good number of spring-loaded push-buttons, so there is no problem adjusting it to fit a varying terrain. It also adjusts to a good height for those who like to sit high off the ground. The seat and backrest are made from a strong, padded fabric that should stand up well to the rough treatment that most anglers will impose upon it.

It can be used as a stool as well as a chair and folds flat enough for easy carrying.

So far so good, but there are aspects of the chair I’m not too fond of. I don’t find it particularly comfortable and the legs sink too easily into soft ground without the optional mud feet. It isn’t a good river seat, being too high even at its lowest setting and the spread of the legs being too narrow for most of the river banks I fish.

I reckon it makes a good chair to take as an extra when bivvied up with a bedchair, or for short sessions on stillwaters. It’s definitely strong and well made.

It could suit you, but do have a sit on one before you make your mind up.

The RRP is a reasonable £ 37.49.
