** Realistic Reviews by Real Anglers**

This is an interesting spoon from Masterline, and I’ll tell you why. I’ve seen it before, in the late 1960’s, only then it was called The Piker!

In those days you couldn’t get good pike spoons, and you usually had to make your own. Then they brought out The Piker and everyone bought some.

I still had one left so pulled it out from deep in a lure box and laid it on top of Mister Muskie – it’s a dead ringer! It fits exactly for length, width, shape, curvature, two head-end fins, and even the scale marking and curved red stripes.

The Piker had one serious drawback in that the light metal made it plane on the wind. It was dreadful to cast. Mister Muskie is made from thicker metal and casts well, and in my view it works far better than the original.

The other modifications are of lesser importance maybe, namely a small, red eye (like a tench) and two small holes to allow one to fit extra trebles. In fact one extra treble might be a good idea because the one provided is a whisker on the small side.

I haven’t tried the Mister Muskie for trolling, but I have no doubt it will troll well.

Presumably the name ‘Toothy Critter’ is the brainchild of Masterline’s Chris Leibbrandt. (It is Barrie, see article link below – Ed).
