Bob Clarke, National Federation of Anglers membership services manager has been suspended pending an investigation into expenses claims.

Mr Clarke was hired in the full time position with the NFA in 2001 and took up office in the NFA’s headquarters in Derby with a salary of £ 30,000 per annum.

He was hired primarily to halt the serious decline in NFA membership numbers that slumped from 455 clubs and over 286,000 individual members in 1987 to 330 clubs and 230,000 members in 2001 when Mr Clarke was appointed. In 2003 it stands at 280 clubs and 190,000 individual members.

Mr Clarke admits to being negligent and failing to keep an accurate record of his NFA credit card expenditure.
