Big Carp from Bury Hill

Whilst Temple has fished pretty hard these past couple of weeks owing to the mixed weather, the latter part of last week saw an increase in catches which included ‘Big Lyn’ at 34lb.

Arguably one of the prettiest fish in Temple, ‘Big Lyn’ was stocked from the King George on the 6/8/04 weighing 34lb 3oz, however almost immediately she started to lose weight being caught as low as 25lb early last year, in fact I honestly thought that we were going to lose her such was the weight loss!

However, she now seems to have settled into Temple and was caught back in April weighing a healthy 30lb 4oz which was relief, to now come out at 34lb is a real joy and I am sure that she will now pile the weight on over the coming weeks and months.

Big Lyn
‘Big Lyn’ and captor Matthew Hubbard

The lucky angler to catch ‘Big Lyn’ was Matthew Hubbard who fished peg 14 catching on a 14mm Activ 8 boilie which he fished to the island margins in conjunction with crushed boilies and pellet in a PVA bag

Further details of the catch can be got from Matthew on 07736 070712. Another angler to catch on Temple this week was Andy Womack who caught a 29lb 4oz mirror from peg 3. Andy fished a Mainline Pulse bait tipped with fake corn, which he fished with pellet to the shallow margins just off the island.

Whilst anglers on Temple have struggled, the Old Lake in turn has fished very well as Brian Nicholls found out catching a 30lb 4oz common and 27lb 2oz mirror along with a couple of upper doubles.

Brian fished peg 36 along the long bank catching on Icelandic Red baits which he fished out to the island. Brian can also be contacted on 0208 6792388 for further information. Both Matthew Hubbard and Brian Nicholls win August’s Wychwood Carp Cup prizes worth £ 150 each.
