The potential new British record carp that was caught by Matthew Lawrence on a pop-up boilie from the Mid-Kent Fisheries Conningbrook Lake and weighed on two sets of scales is not a record.

The scales, one registering a few ounces below the present record of 56lb 6oz, and the other registering a few ounces over the record has been officially confirmed as weighing 56lb 2oz, 4oz below the current title holder.
