Wooden Spoon is a children’s charity founded in 1983 dedicated to helping underprivileged children and young people all over the UK and Ireland to live happier, richer lives.

They comprise over 40 regional volunteer committees as well as a central national team and boast more than 10,000 members across the UK and Ireland. The regional committees undertake local fundraising activities and ensure that the money is spent on projects in their community so that the benefit of their work is always immediate, visible and lasting.

During their first 25 years over half a million young people have benefitted from more than £15 million pounds of charitable support thanks to the efforts of staff and volunteers.

As part of their current fundraising Wooden Spoon are offering fishing on 09 July on the 22 pegs of a private lake (Headley Lake) near Bordon, Hampshire which is well stocked with carp, tench, roach, rudd and perch. The day is to comprise a fishing match, with Bob James on hand to offer help and advice, followed by a BBQ luncheon and music in the shape of a live jazz band.

Tickets cost £100 and include lunch and free drinks as well as fishing with the price for guests who don’t want to fish but just enjoy the social occasion with the barbeque lunch and drinks is £20 (£10 for children).

If you are interested in taking part contact Barrie Mair at barriemair@bulldoghome.com or call on 01628 634081 or 07836 534269 to book your place.
