7 MARCH TO 17 MARCH 2005

Guide Prices For Lots Range From £ 15 to £ 1000

The Wild Trout Trust’s second on-line & postal auction will be held between 7 and 17 March and promises to be even better than last year. There are 108 lots in total – from guided days’ fishing, fishing tackle, gift vouchers, books and DVDs to pheasant shooting and deer stalking. To bid, visit www.wildtrout.org and follow the link to eBay which will be active as soon as the auction goes live on the evening of 7 March.

Last year the auction raised around £ 9000 which was used to fund practical habitat restoration projects throughout the UK and Ireland. Although the majority of buyers came from the UK, lots were purchased by people as far away as the USA. The auction also produced new members for the Trust.

The Wild Trout Trust’s leading friends and supporters have all produced highly-desirable lots including a £ 500 fishing tackle voucher to be spent at Hardy & Greys of Alnwick; a TCR salmon rod from Sage, and a TLS trout rod from Orvis.

One of the most interesting lots (guide price £ 1000) is an extremely rare and exclusive opportunity for a day’s fishing for 2 rods on the Duke’s Beat of the Lathkill on the Haddon Hall Estate, Derbyshire. The fishing is for very wily New Zealand-sized wild brown trout on dry fly. Also included is 1 night’s dinner, bed & breakfast for 2 at the famous Peacock Hotel.

Guided fishing days on a variety of rivers and lochs are available, some of which are with WTT president Brian Clarke, Dr Malcolm Greenhalgh, Jon Beer, John Bailey or Oliver Edwards. There is a wide geographical spread of fishing opportunities, including saltwater fly fishing, from Scotland to Hampshire and Norfolk to Wales and Ireland.

Salmon fishermen will no doubt be keen to bid for 1 day’s salmon fishing for 2 rods, with a ghillie, on the Lees beat of the Tweed (near Coldstream).

For anyone wishing to bid without access to the Internet, the WTT will accept postal bids which will be posted onto eBay by the WTT on the bidder’s behalf and will be bound by the same terms and conditions.

Postal bids must be received in the WTT office by 15 March latest.
