The England selectors will be looking for anglers who can demonstrate their ability to fish at international level and Hayfield Lakes in South Yorkshire will be the venue for the Veterans’ and Disabled trail on Saturday 23 March 2013, followed by the Ladies’ trial on Sunday 24 March.

The trials will be fished to FIPSed rules and bloodworm and joker will have to be used during each four-hour assessment, which will be float fishing only. Only natural baits are permitted so pellets, meat, boilies etc are banned, not only as hook baits, but also as part of the groundbait limit. Bloodworm and joker are limited to 0.75 litre per person and will be supplied by the manager, but must be paid for by the angler.

Interested applicants are advised that the venues for the 2013 World Championships are: Veterans and Disabled: Bosnia and Herzegovina from 04 to 12 August and Ladies: Slovenia from 18 to 26 August.

All nominees must have individual membership of the Angling Trust on the day of the trials and assessments and anyone wishing to participate in the Veterans’ trial must be 60 years of age by 31 December 2012.

Dick Clegg, OBE, International Events Manager for the Angling Trust stated:

“Since there is no Sport England funding for International angling, team members will be expected to help raise the money to participate by attending race nights, raffle days, or fishing competitions etc. The balance of the cost of competing will then have to be paid for equally by those selected for the World Championship teams.”

Anyone  interested in taking part in the trials and assessment days should supply a CV to include: full name, address, email, date of birth, home and mobile contact telephone numbers, Angling Trust individual membership number, and the last three years of their recent angling achievements to: Sandra Drew, Competitions & Events Manager, Angling Trust, Strelley Hall, Nottingham. NG8 6PE or via email to: sandra.drew@anglingtrust.net by no later than Friday 01 March 2013.

Further details to include start times and rules will be sent to all successful applicants prior to the event by email where possible.
