Angling TV Channel OnlineFishing.tv is sending a crew to the World Championships to delve behind the scenes of what makes the best teams in global match fishing tick. The event takes place at Cremona, Italy on the first weekend of September.

“The plan is to give viewers a real flavour of the World Championships as if they were there themselves. It’s a unique and spectacular event and far removed from any match you will see in the UK,” said head of channel Gareth Purnell.

“We intend to produce two 30-minute programmes, concentrating on the trials and tribulations of the home nations and especially England, who are undoubtedly the most powerful team in world match fishing. But they won’t be favourites this time on what’s apparently a tough venue, as Italy’s record when at home is incredible.

“We’ll also be talking to famous anglers from the other top nations including Italy, Hungary and France, getting their slant on the biggest event in world match fishing. We hope to go a lot deeper than simply covering the championships though, so that viewers get to know the anglers a little bit, and understand the sacrifices they make to get to the top and compete at this level. And like all our programmes the aim is to produce a show that’s fun and entertaining first and will appeal to all anglers.”

The subscription based channel, which hopes to go live in October, has also just signed a deal to broadcast Keith Arthur’s choice of the six best Fish O Mania finals, in one hour ‘specials’. You can view a showreel and register your interest by going to OnlineFishing.tv.
