Jarden Corporation, based in New York, have announced the $400 million acquisition of Pure Fishing and a $1.2 billion merger with K2.

K2 already include Shakespeare, Penn, Stearns and Seyvlor in their portfolio, making Jarden one of the most powerful forces in fishing tackle.

The move to merge with K2 came just two weeks after Jarden announced it had acquired Pure Fishing Inc, whose brands include Abu Garcia, Berkeley, Mitchell, Trilene, Stren and Gulp.

Jarden Chairman and CEO Martin E Franklin said, “we believe there are significant opportunities for future growth in the recreational fishing category. Pure Fishing is well positioned to continue its growth and strong financial performance under Jarden.”

Pure Fishing will join K2 under the banner of Jarden Outdoor Solutions.

The merger is expected to be completed later this summer.
