Chub record broken

The chub record has been broken with a 9lb 3oz fish from a southern stillwater. The fish was part of a huge brace, the ‘lesser’ fishing weighing in at 8lb 11oz.

Captor was Scotland Yard detective Steve White, from Farnborough, Kent, who used a 3lb TC rod, 14lb mainline and 15lb Kryston Dark Mantis. Steve fished a 15mm Mainline boilie and caught the biggest fish as dawn broke.

“I knew there was a chance of catching a massive chub as well as a big carp.” Said Steve, a British Carp Study Group member.

Steve’s son Tom has also been catching the big chub on the water, with his biggest fish hitting the net last week at 8lb 1oz.

Steve has had his scales certificated as accurate and will submitting a claim to the BRFC.
