The first Open Match of the season was fished on the Match Lake at Burghfield this week and the venue was in excellent form.

The winner was B. Swindle who alternated between pole and maggot and waggler and corn to take an all carp catch of 80lb 6oz. 8dr from Peg 28.

Peg 5 produced the runner up weight of 69lb 1oz 8dr for Ian Marchant who fished the feeder with meat on the hook.

Third was thirteen year old C. Turner who alternated between feeder pole and waggler for 62lb 14oz from Peg 2.

The Burghfield venue 5 hour Match record was smashed recently by Terry Allen during a Freemasons Angling Society match on the fishery. Terry presented corn on the 9m pole from Peg 1 to take a superb 122lb 14oz winning weight.
