The day was instructed by leading pike fishing expert, Nige Williams. With a personal best of 40lb 12oz and over 20 pike at 30lb plus to his name, Nige is world famous for his pike fishing skills.

The ladies arrived in their droves to attend the event but the weather was not on their side with freezing gale force winds and driving rain making fishing difficult.

Nige began the day by giving the ladies an introduction to the pike and went through the equipment the ladies were to use, including the newly launched Greys Prowla rods, before showing the ladies how to set up their kit and wait for a take.

Lucy Bowden warms up

Chairman of the Fishing For Everyone Ladies Fishing Club, Lucy Bowden said;

“Albeit for the poor weather conditions, the Club had a great day and would like to thank Nige for kindly giving up his time to come and show the ladies the basics of pike fishing – we thoroughly enjoyed our day and it was great to meet an expert angler so passionate about his chosen field.

“We would also like to thank Club Vice Chairman, Rebecca Thorpe for providing the delicious homemade soup and rolls, cooked exceptionally well on the outdoor stove it certainly brought a smile to all of our faces! We would also like to thank Club Treasurer, Jenny Lindley for the home baked ginger bread, fruit loaf and mince pies which warmed us all through – very seasonal!”

The day ended earlier than expected due to the poor weather conditions but all the ladies enjoyed themselves and many of them retired to the local pub for a much needed cup of tea!
