Bivvy tables are like bivvy slippers; one of those things that many anglers are inclined to laugh about and wonder what the hell anybody wants one of those for. Well, I can tell you, at least as far as a bivvy table is concerned: they make life a hell of a lot easier, and I’m all for that.

First of all, ask yourself what you do most of the time you spend in a bivvy. If you’re like most anglers then you lie down a lot and either sleep, listen to the radio (watch TV in some cases) or read. Now, I’m not here to comment on any of those activities (or inactivity), for as far as I’m concerned it’s each to his own as long as they’re not bothering anybody else.

A bivvy table is great place to keep your alarm remote, a book, a lamp, a torch, mobile phone, clock, radio or TV. No more bending over to get things off the ground. No more having to half waken yourself up to change channels or see what time it is.

Bivvy tables are fantastic.

One of these two models from Fishrite will be just the right size for you, depending on how many things you want to keep handy. They’re sturdy, well made and will do a good job. They have raised sides to stop stuff from sliding off and all four legs are adjustable and fold away flat when not in use to fit neatly into your fold up chair or bedchair for carrying.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

They do the job they were meant to do very adequately indeed, and fold down flat enough for ease of transport. The only way I can fault them is that they’re quite heavy, but if they were made from a lightweight alloy then they’d cost at least three times as much. And anyway, in these days of barrowing stuff to your swim the weight of tackle is fast becoming a minor consideration.
