HARRISON DUPLEX LANDING NET HANDLE
Price: About £ 50.00 (two sections)

A tough woven finish carbon landing net handle of low diameter and high strength. Consisting of two 39 inch take apart sections that put together to make a 6ft 3in handle.

Can also accommodate a third 39 inch section, that fits neatly between the two, should you need that extra long reach, especially useful when fishing from steep banks or need to reach beyond marginal vegetation.

Threaded end to accept standard fittings, and a Duplon grip with anodised Wye style butt cap.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

Top quality put-over landing net handle that, in two sections, is strong enough and versatile enough to serve most of the usual netting situations. One section is ideal for boat fishing where a short handle is an advantage.

However, where you need to reach over weed or down a steep bank you can fit a third section to give you the extra length. But beware, don’t try to lift a fish of more than a couple of pounds or so for at this length, not surprisingly, the handle just isn’t stiff enough. If it were it would be far too heavy.

When used with three sections you need to draw the net towards you and then lift it once you can grip the handle as close as possible to the landing net frame.

Although I said that three sections would be useful for steep banks you have to remember that this is a put-over handle and as such you need to take extreme care that you fit the sections tightly together and not snatch at them when drawing the net up the bank. Really, if you’re fishing for heavy fish then the handle, in more than two sections, isn’t suitable for steep banks and you’d be better off with a telescopic type.

Overall, a great-looking, stiff and strong handle that is at its best in one or two sections on flat banks or in a boat.
