FISHERS GREEN

Chris Hillier with his 7lb 8oz RMC record chub

Andover angler Chris Hillier enjoyed a spectacular session on Fishers Green weighing in five big chub during an overnight session on the very much in-form Relief Channel.

Chris fished a marine pellet hookbait on a size 6 hook to 10lb line in conjunction with a PVA packed with mini trout pellet. After landing a bream of 10lb 10oz at 2am the chub moved in and Chris enjoyed a sleepless night…

During the next six hours Chris weighed in specimens of 5lb 8oz, 5lb 12oz, two at 6lb 4oz and a new RMC Angling record of 7lb 8oz which is pictured above. Whilst this specimen sets a new record for RMC Angling it is unlikely that it will last for long as Fishers Green is likely to continue to develop as a big chub fishery and a fish to top the 8lb mark is a realistic proposition within the next twelve months.

A wonderful fishery with some truly wonderful fish, congratulations to Chris for getting to grips with some of them.

7lb chub for Gary Newland
There is no doubt that Fishers Green really is in sensational chub form at present with a string of 6 and 7lb specimens falling to a variety of anglers in recent weeks.

Edmonton angler and RMC Specimen Group member Gary Newland is one of those who has really got amongst the big fish and a recent session produced his first 7lb specimen in the shape of the big fish pictured here.

Gary fished in the company of RMC Specimen Group Records Officer Bob Hornegold and legered a DT baits paste to take the chub, along with another of 6lb 1oz.
