The range of Shimano Antares rods are based on TCurve technology and are the flagships in the Shimano range, bringing top quality at a reasonable price.

The rods have been field tested for 18 months when a number of specimen fish were caught on them by members of the Shimano team of consultants.

The Antares Specialist Quiver is especially suitable for river fishing, targeting the smaller species such as chub, perch, roach and dace. But of course the rod can quite comfortably be used on stillwaters.

They ultra-slim blank is superbly finished in aubergine with attractive logos and subdued graphics.

FISHINGmagic VIEW

PROS: An impressive looking rod that is a pleasure to use. It is light enough to hold for several hours and has a really nice feel. The whole blank is very sensitive to bites, such that you can feel even a subtle bite through the length of the rod. The range of quivertips is excellent, with one for every type of bite you may be expecting. The means to use two small Betalights on the quivertips definitely helps to reduce eye strain.

This rod will especially suit those anglers who like a rod with sensitivity and an almost through-action. It is excellent for playing fish for it has more shock absorber effect than most feeder/quivertip rods.

CONS: The supple, almost through-action will not suit those anglers who want to cast heavy feeders and pick up line at over 40yds range.

TCurve TECHNOLOGY

TCurve Hi Power Graphite is a revolutionary new concept in carbon technology and manufacturing techniques. Using 100% Hi Modulus Carbon as a rod material is not practical due to its brittle nature, and standard resins and additional materials have always had to be added to prevent breakage.

However, Shimano TCurve rod blanks are constructed from a special graphite cloth using a specialised resin formula and manufacturing technique, involving the use of a three-ply weave and a special curing process.

Unlike standard rigid resins, TCurve resin molecules have elasticity after the manufacturing process and, as a result, they move with the bend and twist of the blank under severe compression. This healthy composition creates an almost ‘living’ action and results in a configuration that is 20-40% more resistant to compression than regular carbon.

The net result is that the Shimano rods which incorporate TCurve are lighter, stronger and more responsive, with significant hidden power reserves.
