Most anglers who night fish have moved over to the new LED headlamps, mainly for two reasons. The light from them is soft and more natural and battery life, compared to the old style krypton bulbs, is phenomenal.
This headlamp from Solar GB Ltd, specialists in energy products, and not Martin Locke’s Solar company by the way, has three bright LED’s, an impact resistant, water resistant casing, a comfortable, fully adjustable head band, and a soft pad for where the lamp rests on the forehead.
It operates with a twist action and uses three AAA batteries that last for about 150 hours.
What makes this lamp different from the rest of the LED torches is that it comes with a separate and complete krypton bulb and reflector. A bit of pain to keep swapping it over but nice, nevertheless, to have the facility when it’s needed to light up a more distance object that the LED light can’t reach.
The other appealing feature about it is that it’s relatively inexpensive compared to some LED headlamps. It carries a recommended retail price of £ 28.99 but you can find it for £ 17.99 if you shop around.
