** Realistic Reviews by Real Anglers **

Like the disgorgers recently reviewed in FISHINGmagic, Standard Plus have taken a simple item, turned it on it’s head and made it into a better product.

One of the most difficult things to get right when feeder fishing is regulating the flow of feed to suit the swim you’re fishing. At the two extremes we have stillwaters with no flow and fast rivers with lots of flow. In stillwaters we need to make it as easy as possible for the feed to escape. In fast flows we often have to slow down the rate at which the feed escapes.

In the past we have had to cut or bore bigger holes in the swimfeeder to allow food to escape faster, and to tape over the holes to prevent food escaping so quickly. Not a very satisfactory answer because once cut or bored, the holes are the starting point for the feeder to begin splitting and the lifespan is considerably reduced. When the holes are taped smaller the tape has to be replaced quite often and it’s all a bit Heath Robinson anyhow.

So what Standard Plus have done is fit an adjustable inner sleeve into a standard pattern block-end feeder so that with the button on the side the holes can be opened up to become slots, or left closed as holes. It works fine and hasn’t banged up the price too much at £ 1.75 to make it a non-starter.

The big advantage of course is when you’re fishing roaming style with a feeder, for you can move from slow swims to fast swims, and back again, without having to continually change from a feeder with small holes to a feeder with large holes. A simple flick of the switch is all that is needed.

There are two sizes, 1oz and 2oz, they cost just £ 1 each, and you’ll find them in most tackle shops.
