Over £ 15,000 was raised

This past weekend I attended the annual Stoney and Friends fish-in at the Yateley complex in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. The venue was once again kindly donated for the weekend by RMC Angling.

About 150 anglers turned up this year and over the weekend more than £ 15,000 was raised, taking Stoney’s rolling total for the past 6 years to over £ 104,000.

There were more prizes than people

A few fish were caught, including some 30lb+ carp, but the socialising and the event is much more important than any fish captures.

As usual, the raffle was an absolute belter, with more prizes than people.

It was a glorious weekend, both weather-wise and in achievement.

Allan Stone deserves a big, big pat on the back for his tireless efforts for this very worthy cause, as do the gang of reprobates he calls a committee, (Chris Isaacs and Tug), as well as the numerous helpers (Mike Lydon, Singy, Sumo, et al).

Well done Stoney, well done all the helpers, a big thanks to all the people and companies who donated raffle prizes and a big well done to all the anglers who took the time and effort to help raise that money.

I’ll be back again next year, maybe we can take a FM contingent down and book a whole lake to ourselves.
