I’m not known for travelling light on fishing sessions and this tackle barrow from Cyprinus certainly ticks all the boxes for what I’d want in a carp/specimen fishing barrow.

First on my list is strength; I had the barrow well laden with gear and it remained exceptionally rigid. The frame is constructed from thin-walled steel box section, which is incredibly strong yet pretty lightweight. Even the handles – which are adjustable to make it easy to manoeuvre whether you’re short or tall – felt very strong and the shape of them seems to add to their strength. The handles bow outwards toward the rubber hand grips, giving them an ergonomic feel and this extra width between the handles provides extra stability when pushing the barrow.

The front and side bars extend to accommodate larger loads and give plenty of places to hook on bungee straps, should you find them necessary. They fold away very compact for when the porter is not in use, too. The support legs, which also fold away easily, lock into place with a spring-loaded bolt so you can be sure that the legs will be in place when you arrive at your swim with your tackle. The pivoting mud feet at the end of the legs keep the barrow upright, even if you have to put them down on soft ground. At the front end, the large pneumatic tyre will also ensure your tackle gets over soft ground and mud without any problem.

A couple of additional features I found very handy on this porter were the ‘Y’-shaped rod bag support arm – which is height-adjustable and has extending arms too, to fit larger rod bags – and the storage bag which straps onto the frame and provides a secure place to carry smaller items. Every adjustable part of the Barrow Trolley Porter features an ergonomic thumb screw.

When packed away, this spacious barrow is surprisingly compact and easy to store and transport; the only protruding parts are the mud feet and the bars onto which the wheel forks attach. The wheel and forks, the rod bag support arm and the handles all stow separately, but with the exception of the wheel, these will all sit on the main barrow frame without adding to the size of the folded porter.

All in all, the barrow trolley porter delivers performance, strength, features and performance which far exceed what I would expect from a tackle barrow with this price tag.
