Sea anglers, and all you coarse anglers who are fed up with swollen rivers, can battle it out at Portsmouth harbour this weekend, when an armada of shore and dinghy anglers fight it out in their winter open festivals, according to www.thenews.co.uk.

Two angling clubs, Portchester Sporting AC and Stamshaw Lake AC, each hold their winter open festivals this Sunday, 26th November.

In association with Hansfords of Fareham the Portchester Sporting AC fish the Portchester foreshore between the Castle and Wicor Point in Fareham Creek. Those taking part will be aiming to net the first prize of £ 500 while the runner-up takes £ 250. Entry fee is £ 8 with a £ 2 pool.

At the same time the Stamshaw Lake Pairs dinghy match takes place inside Portsmouth Harbour. Book in at Raneleigh Road HQ from 7.30am.

Flounders and the occasional shore-caught bass or boat-caught plaice are expected to make up the bulk of catches.
